Default Engine Guards

Thinking of replacing my stock 2014 FLHX engine guards with the HD "mustache" engine guards with the built in rubber foot placement feature. Anyone use these? Are they comfortable, and will they provide the same level of protection if the bike falls over?

I have them on my Softail, I was hoping I wouldn't need to use highway pegs.

At 6ft. I found they don't allow me to stretch out fully. They are ok for a short change of position but not much more.

I prefer to use the pegs, might be better for someone shorter.

I've recently started using mine a little bit. I'm only 5'9" and normally use the low placed foot pegs that I put on the highway bar. I thought I'd try the built in ones since I put on a lower profile AC and they actually aren't too bad. I'll use them a lot more once I have some new bars and I can lean back more.

I have them on my Heritage Classic. I find them a little high to be very comfortable for long periods, but also have highway pegs placed lower down on the bars. I also find when I'm doing about 85mph that it's not so easy putting my feet on the mustache bars when there is a lot of wind resistance.

I like the look much better than the standard bar. I also have one on my Heritage, and agree with all the above comments. As far as protection, I have no idea, and hope t never find out.

I found that they were not as secure on top and tend to vibrate and move at speeds. I switched them out for regular ones which are beefier.

I had the Lindby version of those on my Heritage. The footrest was a bit high for me to be useful, but I mainly installed them for the look. Nice beefy bar, good quality piece.

Well worth it, I really like the look as opposed to a standard engine guard. Have not had any issues when using the highway pegs either. 6'2'', 34 inseam.
