Trying to find a decent pair of Gauntlet gloves
After more than 20 years or so my old and trusty Made in the USA HD Gauntlets have to be retired, as the leather in the palm area has given way. These were great gauntlets having lasted so long. I will keep them "for the memories" but they're not useful for riding anymore. I travel to the HD dealer thinking I'll find a suitable replacement pair, but what a bunch of ugly looking Made in China crap they have. I already have a good pair of lined gauntlets for cold weather riding, but due to the fact I like un-lined gloves for that precise throttle feel, I go to e-bay and purchase a brand new pair of Deerskin leather gloves, but they're way too thin and don't offer any protection, so chaulk them up for buzzing around in my car (manual trans). Can anyone recommend a place to buy a good pair of leather gauntlets? Are Fox Creek's any good?

You may laugh, but have you ever considered the Mechanix line?
I'm in no way an experienced rider (new this month) but for my course and skills test, I wore my Mechanix vented military gloves (good trigger feel)
They worked great for me. Knuckle protection and leather palm.
Their site has all-leather gauntlet style gloves too... might be worth a look.
Be warned, they're ugly gloves!

I bought a pair of these, and really like them:

Although they are lined, they do sell unlined versions.

I have a pair of Fox Creek elkskin gloves, not gauntlet but they also have them in gauntlet, that feel like good strong leather. No extra protection other than the elk skin but good throttle feel and they are much thicker than deer skin.

+1 for Fox Creek Leather. Stopped by there on a long ride recently. Great folks and great products. I've had Aerostich Elk Ropers as well and like them. Fox Creek is better in my opinion.
