Interesting that this possible crackdown, and that's all it is at this point, is being lobbied for by an avid rider of a different brand motorcycle.
I don't like stupid loud pipes either. And I think way too many of my fellow Harley riders run pipes that are not only too loud, but have an ugly raspy note and set up that is killing their bike's performance.
That said, a well-tuned Harley should be heard and should be music to the ears of any rider.

My Paughco pipes are loud, quite loud, BUT I ride through downtown quietly, I'm gentle with the right wrist. Same when rolling through residential...roll quietly. It's all the new "look at me" riders that sit in stop 'n go traffic, or stoplights....rolling their right wrists to make attention getting noise. Yeah...it's getting attention alright...the WRONG KIND! Ruin it for everyone else.
Crank the wrist out on the open road, open country, highways...enjoy the thunder music there.

Tony Guy Is there such a thing as "necessarily loud pipes"? I don't think so.

RIDE-CT.com Great line, Tony. You got me. There is no such thing necessarily loud ;pipes as science has shown that loud pipes don't save lives. They just tick people off.

Kelly Marie No sorry I wasn't ... Joseph Acampora Jr Bad Boy air horns..just $39.95 at Northern Tool & Harbor Freight. Small/easy to mount. The AMA has a decibel meter that should be used in all 50 states to eliminate the "Big Wheel" LOOK AT ME attitude...get smart! Same goes for wearing a bikini or shorts & sandals when riding 'cause I WANNA GET A TAN...!

A CT serves as the police in Kent, so just because this guy may be on a loud-pipes-crusade
doesn't mean it is statewide.
And Kent would fold up if bike enthusiasists stopped going there.
