2006 FLST(I) Heritage or a 2007 FLHR Road King?
I have 2 bikes I am looking at. Y'alls experience is appreciated.
1) 4 hrs away is a 2006 Heritage FLST (I) under 7k miles, 88B 5 speed, stock except windshield and highway bars. Can get for under 9K. Bike has been in the beach area since new....no idea if that affects anything.
2) 2007 RK FLHR. at a dealer we bought a bike from before and the salesman is awesome and a friend about 1.5 hrs away. 96b 6 speed, 23K miles, has stage 1 , full Reinhart exhaust and has been tuned. I can get this bike for about 11,500 OTD. Hoping I can work him down on price a lil more first.
Before I spend a lot of time and gas on these....what sounds like a better deal? I love the looks of both. The Heritage is a base so I would do a lot of add on's over time. The RK I would not add as much to but still would trick it out.

Have you ridden or even sat on either model? I would if I were you, two completely different rides. I personally don't like the look or feel of the RK. Ask the next guy, and you'd get a different opinion.....don't listen to anyone but yourself.

You would notice the contrast immediately then if you actually fired up the RK and rode it, even for a short difference. Very front heavy and bulky feeling plus you'll feel "on top of" rather than "in" it like your softail. That being said, I think over time you can adjust and get used to a variety of different bikes.

Is that the sign of an old married man? LMAO. I let her pick out the 2009 Heritage Classic. We both are riders so we knew one bike ain't gonna cut it and I for sure ain't gonna be the one that fell off....LOL. So.....I am on the local hunt for a bike that fits my style and comfort...and my wallet so new is out. I like the Heritages and the RK's so I am tossing up in the original post what would appear to be he best deal of the 2. If something better comes along....we will see but this is what I have narrowed it down to so far. I like the 2006 since it is a one year thing and I can trick it out ground up basically, but I like the RK too as I am sure I would never outgrow it. I am an 51 yr old disabled vet, 6 ft and a shade over 250 right now...less hopefully after knee surgery soon allows me to sweat some fat off LOL so anything smaller than a heritage is about out for me.

Ah...gotcha. The 06 to me sounds like a good price. With your size, you may like the RK?? I would probably lean toward the Heritage though since the price is lower and doesn't sound like 2-up is a consideration. That is, if it doesn't bother you that you both ride the same bike.
