what is the BEST oil for my FXD 2005 1450 Primary

Get the HD brand Non Synthetic. It's all you need and will save you some bucks.

Ya can go with 15w50, 10w40 or 20w50, syn or mineral.

Nothing with friction modifiers.

Type F ATF
Shell Rotella
Anything sold as a primary oil

Try to refrain from the Harley crap... it's too thick.

I run Pennzoil 10W40 in the primary. All you need is something to cool the primary drive chain and not have friction modifiers in it. ATF Type F is also a good primary lubricant, as tmanbuckhunter said.

I run Valvoline 10W40 Motorcycle Oil in my Road King's primary because AutoZone sells it. I tried HD Formula +, but it was too sticky when cold. When I ran Syn3 in all 3, the clutch worked OK.
