Riding on freeway with speakers
I was having a hell of a time hearing my speakers on the freeway. I ended up picking up some of those foam earplugs from work to cut down on the wind, thinking since I couldn't hear the speakers anyway, I might as well protect my hearing. To my amazement, I was able to hear the speakers more clearly with the foam earplugs in than out.
Makes sense, I guess, because they cut out the higher pitch sounds of the wind. Thought I would share that, which you guys probably have known for a while anyway.
On a side note, I was thinking of swapping out the stock speakers at some point, but wanted to know if anyone has aftermarket ones and what they thought about the sound at freeway speeds with aftermarket pipes...i.e. can you still hear the music over all that noise with/without earplugs?

I had no problem hearing the stock speakers on my 2012 RGC once I got a larger windshield (12" windsplitter). With the stock 4" shield couldn't hear anything once I passed 40mph. With the Biketronics 6.5" speakers it sounds even better....

I have no problems with my radio at Interstate speeds (75+) I do turn the volume up more than I would around town. When the wind becomes annoying I use these ear plugs.

If you try ear attenuators, which reduce wind noise and allow ambient sound through, might make you hear the stereo even better.
