Default Impact Driver??

Can I use an impact driver (hammer wrench?) on my compensator nut? I've put a 6' cheater on it and can't break it loose. Am I going to damage anything - bearings, stator, crank, etc.? I don't know what to do next if the impact driver isn't the right way to go.
Thanks-

impact driver may break the stator /flywheel magnets.

try heating up the nut with a heat gun ,then use the big wrench.
you do have the primary chain locked right ?

That's what I'm afraid of.

Affirmative on the primary chain locked (with a solid piece of oak).

Just to understand. A 6 foot cheater pipe?
I've broken snap-on sockets with a 4 foot cheater on a 3/4" breakover bar working on big trucks.
I've also seen the male end of a breakover snap with cheater pipes.

With 6', something is going to give or you need more *** on the bar.

Aren't one of the nuts left handed?
This thread might help.

Try applying some heat to the nut - red Loctite needs 400 degrees of heat to loosen and the Moco puts that stuff on everything.
A small propane torch or soldering iron will get the job done.
When you replace it, blue Loctite will work famously and you'll always be able to back that nut off when without the applying heat.

Yep - 6 foot cheater. I have no doubt that I can break SOMETHING, I'd rather it be the nut loose. Maybe that heat application is what I need to do.

The inner clutch nut is left-handed threads.

it worked for me when the 6' cheater twisted my Craftsman breaker bar. Impact took it off on 2 seconds.

I've used a pneumatic wrench on the compensator for years, never a single problem.
