Basic must have been very different for you. After the 6 weeks I spent there I swore I would go awol before I would go back.

You will enjoy. As Slomo says the three sisters is a great ride. Lots of good riding in the whole area. As for safe place to live. No idea. S.A. is a pretty cool city though. I am sure it is like any other larger city. Some places better than others.

I grew up in SATX in the 70's and 80's. I used to love riding in the hill county.
Its getting more crowded but its not as bad as most major cities...I was just up there earlier this month and stayed w/ family for a night.
I had no problems riding around during non traffic peak times. They are upgrading the major roadways and still some construction.
So for me the town's growth just means you go further out and no problems.
You catch the sisters right and you may not see many other vehicles at all.
100 miles west on I-10 and your going 80+ on the freeway. 400 miles to Big Bend!
Family still lives in NE part of SA. So im biased towards that area.
Really...like all cities...depends on your budget on where to live.

Rode the sisters in March, very nice ride! The locals told us to be very careful in the hill country at night, there's a reason they call it the whitetail capital of the world! You could make a decent living providing "deer catcher" front bumpers for cages!

Yes ride the sisters. Deer hunting is good if you do that. Plus dove, and other critters. Snakes bite, so watch out for them. Big plus is you can pretty much ride all year long. And play golf if you do that too.

Mike, at 2am, anyone can beat me to every thread here.
Texas has a lot of nice places to see and roads to ride. There's a website...Texas Motorcycle Roads...that you should check out.
