Default Vermont helmet law

Getting ready for a trip and will be going through Vermont for a couple of days.
I just visited AMA website to look up the regs and Vermont says "helmets with reflectorization"
Can someone explain that to me?

I don't want to get snagged for non compliance.

Wouldn't know exact requirements but I would assume something like reflective tape.

You will be fine in VT as long as you have a DOT helmet. I can say that most cops don't bother with skid lids either as long as a helmet is seen on the head.

Thanks, but I don't want to assume.

Not wanting to argue but most helmets don't have any reflectorization built in. What else could it mean as you can't add those little license plate reflector screws? I always have a dot approved helmet on so the only time I worry about other states is if someone I ride with doesn't wear.

I'll try to find the reg for you - IIRC it's a 3" x 1" reflective area (tape, whatever) on the back of the helmet.

Haven't ridden in VT much, but when there didn't have reflectorization (didn't know about the law then) but was not hassled. Was wearing modular FF helmet.

sounds like to me that your helmet has to be safety orange

We just road through Vt going to Lake George NY in late June. Passed by many state troopers and none gave us a second look. The three of us did have DOT, full face helmets (rained the whole ride) with no reflective tape of any sort.
