General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
You can try Gaffers tape, I've never had it hurt the finish and use it when I think something will rub against the paint but don't want something permanent.
Stupid answers for a stupid question. Tank bras or car bras destroy paint over time, to ask what you can put in between them to stop it, nothing. All leather on paint can get real bad when water gets underneath. My rear fender needs a repaint from a sissy bar bag getting wet. Nature of the beast. Put the tank bra on the garbage.
I can see this is going no where. No more stupid answers needed. Go harass a different thread.
cdremy, you asked a pretty good question. I was interested in what the responses are and I did not see any of the "stupid answers" unless I totally missed something.
I agree with you, I hate it when someone gives a stupid answer to a legitimate question like you asked. But I just did not see it here. Just a thought my friend.
I am still going to follow this thread because I totally do not know the answer either.

I guess I must be one of the lucky ones as the tank paint on my 2004 Fatboy showed little wear when removing the tank bra that came with it. In MN car bras were used mostly in the winter to protect the paint from the sand and salt they used on the roads which collected underneath the bra and ruined the paint. I don't see this same scenario happening with a tank bra.
