West Central WI loop was great!!!
Decided to head over towards the Mississippi but never made it. But the ride was great and the food was good. The fall colors are really starting to turn. 370 miles for the day and it was a good day to be on the road.
From the Waupaca area
Hwy 54 West into Wisconsin Rapids
Hwy 73 North to Neilsville (just a cruising road but decent)
Hwy 95 South to Merrillan (started getting into big hills)
Hwy 12 South to Black River Falls (a little more twisty with big hills)
Hwy 54 West to Melrose
Hwy 108 South to West Salem (Awesome road. Nice and twisty, some hair pins and plenty of hills. There were lots of bikes on this road. My father in law who rides very aggressively really got the attention of a group of sport bike riders. About a dozen were stopped, checking out maps at an intersection that also had a 25 mph curve. The FIL takes it at about 50 really cranking it. All of their heads turn in unison like they are watching a tennis match. When we stopped further down the road, here comes the group of sport bikes, giving thumbs up the FIL as they pass.)
Just West of the intersection of Hwy 108 and Hwy 16 was a little place called Big Boar BBQ. Pulled pork was good and the Brisket Burger was excellent.
Hwy 16 East
Hwy 162 South (another hilly twisty road, but not as tight of curves as 108)
Hwy 33 East (This would have been a great road, but there was one section which seemed to be in the best part that was under construction and all gravel. What wasn't gravel was excellent and probably one of the most scenic roads in WI)
We took 33 East to Hwy 39/51 and dark was approaching. Cranked North on 39 and back towards Waupaca in the dark.

Highway 33 is a gas! Take it east thru Wildcat Mtn State Park. You can run all the way to the Mighty Mississippi and take 35 south, river to your right, steep bluffs on your left. But back to Hwy 33 at Wildcat Mtn, run south on 131 to tiny Rockton for great weekend biker chicken roasts, beans and beer. Hundreds of bikes of every description. Then County Hwy P west thru towns with one-tavern and four stools until you hit Westby, your choice of twisty roads to the river from there. You can't go wrong.
