Is this for a conversion or a replacement? Looks like a run-of-the-mill straight axle style kit and even has disc brakes. The only thing I see that may be a concern is the chain drive. This is the rear drive only and if it's a conversion....he is going to need a lot more "stuff".

I have a Buddy wanting to build his own from the
frame up and he has a servi car axel with no brake drums
or hubs but wants disc brakes
pricing parts he thinks this might be cheaper

I do think a commercial rear-end (like the one you pictured on e-bay) is going to be a lot less troublesome than trying to make Servi Car guts work. If he prefers the chain-drive, this one also fits that bill, but you can get them with a belt pulley also.

I think he should contact the seller and see just what all is for sale there. If it is the frame-n-all, then it looks like a pretty good deal, but if it is just the rear-end...he is going to have to find out who manufactured it so he can come up with the components to connect it to the frame. Stuff like a swing arm, shock mounts, what sort of body will fit this thing, etc. It is definitely set up for a chain/belt drive Harley, but he could spend a lot more than the cost of a new trike, or certainly a good used one. Rear-ends like the one pictured are pretty common in the Champion, Lehman and Roadsmith family of straight axles, so it's likely a quality product.

I can say that I inquired to Lehman concerning a new rear-end once to convert mine to disc brakes and they wanted $4,000 for one equipped with disc. Of course....I told them no thanks and converted mine to disc. I could have bought one of these and stuck under mine for a lot less than $4,000, so in this case $1400 looks like a steal!

I'd dig into it, find out who made it and converse with the manufacturer as to what all is available to connect it to "whatever" frame to make it roll before I bought anything at a bargain. You can very often find the same product selling for less from the manufacturer than some e-bay deal. This guy is likely a dealer for the manufacturer. I'd find out who that is and talk to the maker of this rear-end before I spent a dime.
