2015 1200c Fuel Issue?
I have a 2015 1200 c with 902 miles originally bought for wife last April. Back a couple months ago drilled out the baffles and cats for some more sound. Immediately after starting it didn't sound right. I shut it down and rechecked everything but yet every time I started it sounded off especially from front pipe. Then I noticed the front head pipe was getting red hot. The rear looked normal. This was after only about 90 secs to 2 mins of running. I thought maybe it was the drilling out of the mufflers so I purchased a set of modified stock tapered mufflers from ebay. These have the Thunder Torque inserts installed. I installed these Friday evening and started it up and got the same thing. Sound was off and front head pipe still getting red hot. I also noticed it seems to bobble and search at times and the idle speed hovers around 1300 all the time. The bike is bone stock except for the muffler mods. I included pictures of the front and rear plugs. In person front seems very lean. I did a compression check and both cylinders came up 190-195. I also included pictures of head pipes. The glowing red one is the front. I know this is a long rant but any help from the gurus would be appreciated.

The plugs do not represent anything but the last idle situation.
Anytime you change the airflow (intake and/or exhaust) the system needs recalibration.
Find the muffs you like then get it to a tuner to recalibrate the fueling for the mod(s).
Other than that keep asking here and other places and get a ton of advice.
Good luck,
Bob

I agree to certain extent but if that were the case why is only one cylinder running hot and the other not? And there is a noticeable difference in sound between front and rear pipes. I doubt it's just needing a tuner issue. Also I have done this before without this issue. I do appreciate the input.

I have my softail in the shop right now for a lean running condition. The first thought we had was that the air induction gaskets were leaking and allowing air in and messing up the mix. It actually turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator had cracked and was running on low fuel pressure.
I saw the bike has like 900 original miles. I am thinking take it to the dealer and have them go over it since it is under warranty.
Good luck and let us know what it was so we can add to the knowledge base.

You and me both. I was immediately doing a diagnosis on my bike and then said heck with it dealer time. I narrowed it down enough to know it was covered by my warranty. lol

Just an update. Sorry it took so long. Installed a set of stock mufflers today that had no modifications what so ever. Made no changes. Front head pipe still gets red hot after just a couple minutes and rpm never drops below 1300. Going to call local dealership and see when I can drop it off and let them deal with it. It's still under warranty so let it be on their dime. I'll post up what they find.

Update- Picked bike up from dealer today. Was told problem was defective temperature sensor. Had injector dumping fuel in to front cylinder because it never read engine was heating up. Was told to put some miles on it and if had any problems bring it back. It does idle down to 950 to 1000 rpm now and sounds better. Seems to vibrate a lot at 60+ mph but maybe I'm so used to my Road King it seems excessive. I'll put a few miles on it and see what I think then.
