[/align]I am currently in the process of upgrading my 883R to a 1200 I would like to change the standard ECU to a screaming eagle ECU. I am advised by my local Harley dealer that I will need to fit the 883 sreaming eagle ECU not the 1200 ECU even though my Sportster will soon be a 1200 can anyone shed some light on this and the reason why.?????

If you have an 07/08 XL, you can reflash the ECM.... Dealer can do this, but will charge you....

If you have an 04-06, you have an ICM (Ignition Control Module), and if you are installing the SE version, you are only getting an increased Rev limit.... Best bet is to use the SE Ignition Race Tuner... It gives you the ability to modify and manipulate the spark curve and timing, or a Daytona TC 88 Ignition Module is a very good adjustable module.....
