Crank sensor issues
Maybe somebody could help me out on this one, I went to change out my crank position sensor on a 2000 heritage springer and when I removed the old sensor, I was treated to approximately a quart of oil dripping out.
I did not expect this to happen. I called the local Harley dealer to see if it was normal and was told that no oil should be in there.
Now I'm thinking that maybe when trying to start the bike, oil is getting pumped in there but since it won't start, the oil is not pumping back out?
Any thoughts?

No. The bike has been sitting for some time trying to diagnose the problem. ( no spark)
Now that I finally zeroed in on it, something new of course.apparently the crankcase holds a LOT more oil than I had imagined. I drained the oil and changed it along with the filter and then added 3 quarts( the manual says 3 1/2.) expecting the level to drop once the bike ran and pumped oil back into the crankcase and filter. Instead the oil level rose and I was forced to use the turkey baster to remove oil from the tank.
