I have a 1984 ironhead sporty that wont idle.the guy I got it from had the carb off for rebuild and it sat in a barn for 2 years.I have put the carb back on,new pecock ,plugs,wires ,inline fuel filter can not find any adjustments on carb other then idle adjustment which does not help any.

 

If it has the stock carb. the idle mixture screw should be on top at the rear of the body. There may be a plug over the mixture screw, but if it has been rebuilt (properly) the plug should have been removed. also do not forget that a vacuum leak at the intake seals will cause a poor idle problem.

 

If that carb was off for a rebuild it's possible that something was assembled wrong or there is a part missing. I'd take it back off, break it down and compare the parts with the diagram in a shop manual to make sure everything is there. With the manual you can check your float settings, etc.
