How's the ride on an Ironhead?
Hey guys,
This is my first post to the forum. I'm thinking about buying a 68 Ironhead and had a question about comfort. It's a hardtail single seat and I was wondering how comfortable the ride will be? I'm used to a 2004 softail and figured the ride would be a lot rougher. Will I be able to ride for long distances? Thanks in advance
Dustin

I rode my 78 hardtail in sturgis about 500 miles or so and it was no joke if you are riding a soft tail now you will not like the ride at all. On the other hand people love those old bikes I got more looks on my old leaky bitch than all of those baggers combined. People couldnt believe I was riding a bike like that to the places I did. So go ahead and pick it and ride it like you stole it !

Jc7 is correct - a Mustang seat is the way to go - I've been riding on the same rigid frame for 19 years now - and I wouldn't trade her for 10 solid gold soft tails. Anyone can go buy a soft tail - with the '68 you'll stand out in a crowd. You'll just walk a little funny for a bit when you get off after a long ride!
ScottFisher - Nice bike - I love your signature, See no Evo, Hear no Evo, Speak no Evo, Ride no Evo, mind if I steal it and paint it on my helmet??

Nope, I don't mind...it is a helmut sticker I picked up back in the...i donno...late '80s, I guess.
Your bike and mine may share the same frame. My motor is mounted in an old FL straight leg and the front-end...an old adjusta-glide. There is a splarkle at the top tree in your pic...can't tell, but it might be the same.
