Default 84 clutch adjust

is 84 clutch adjust procedure the same as in the other thread that piniongear illustrated ??/ the reason I'm asking is when I replaced the primary cover and adjusted the clutch I got slippage (almost new clutch) I turned the adjuster screw (at the cover) inward and the slip went away, that dont seem right

Early 1984 is the same as piniongear's method. Late '84-on is different. Bike with generator is E84, alternator is L84. Which do you have?

piniongear's list of steps for adjusting the clutch is usually considered to be the best.

Near the end there is a step where you turn the adjusting screw out 1/8 to 1/4 turn in order to set the free play at the hand lever. I do it like this - turn it out 1/8, check free play, if good then done otherwise turn it out a little more, etc.
