I'd bet good money on there was probably a run of those gears and this may come up again in the future for someone else. That sucks I'm guessing it's under warranty still?

I'd like to hear what Mark from Baker thinks caused that.

That's the first M8 trans failure I've heard of.

Hum--I dont care who ya are, thats some scary looking **** right there. WOW
Did you have any inclination that something was a miss before it failed? Noise, whine, clunk? Anything?

Reason I ask, to me it seems my tranny makes a fair amount of noises I have never heard before on a Harley? I'm not even at 500 miles yet. Could be mind gremlins ya know.

I have even thought about pulling the derby cover to check fluid level.

Its not as if I dont trust a dealer to do a proper set up. Um yes it is that it is exactly that.

I'd be curious what he had to say myself.

OK gonna flex my stupidity here.

In checking the tranny fluid level. ambient temp on the jiffy--ok got that

then it says "install filler plug/dipstick until O ring contacts case" well on this one
you have to screw it in pretty far for the O-ring to touch.

I am doing this right? Right?

page 143 on the manual BTW
