Old and Lost in Manitoba
Hi ya gals & guys!
I have been riding off and on for just over 50 years. I started with a Honda 50 at age 15, 1964, and traded that for a Honda 305 Superhawk the following year. I gave up riding for a few years from 1974 to 1982 until my husband and I started riding again. My next bike was a 1982 Harley FLH and I LOVED that bike though my husband, the Silverwing driver, used to rib me about the Hog! I had to give up the FLH in 1987 when I was out of work and needed the money.
This past summer a Honda 50 came up for sale cheap so I picked it up to restore. (I am very mechanically inclined and have build/rebuilt/restored any number of machines of all types over the years, everything from bulldozers to airplanes.) That re-infected me with the bug and within a month I also picked up a Honda 750 to ride but, to tell the truth, the 750 just doesn't "feel right".
A week ago I dropped in to the local Harley dealership to look at what they had in used bikes and I sat on a Dyna Low Rider. OMFG the FXDL fit like a friggin glove and I WAS IN LOVE!
Unfortunately I live on a pension and it is going to be a LONG time before I can afford a Harley again. I keep looking for something inexpensive, maybe something older that needs work and TLC but nothing so far.
In the mean time, I am just heart-sick - it's like being away from the one you love!
Am I friggin nuts? Mentally unbalanced? Or is this something some Harley riders can identify with?
