Default Need advice on my 08 110, rebuild or replace

I just bought a 08 flhrse4 with a 110 Screaming Eagle motor with 44k miles, it broke a rocker plate and bent a rod. It appears it broke a rocker bolt prior to my purchase and the rest is history. On tear down it shows the Pistons are ok and the lower end seems ok too except for metal shavings in the pan. My question is, is it worth rebuilding or replacing it with a new motor. What are the average cost differences??? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Rebuild will be the cost effective solution I'd say, given you're rebuilding yourself. Replace will be quicker though.

If a shop is doing the work check pirces and see what they recommend as the best solution, chances are they'll have to replace all the bearings in the lower end and probably the oil pump unit. Plus find out where the shavings came from and replace that...

Welcome from Auburn, Georgia!
If it were my coin and I didn't buy the ext warranty I'd take advantage of a killer upgrade to FM 117! Just my .02
