new guy
hi everyone, im tommy. had bikes growing up started at age eleven with a cushman scooter then rice burners and one bmw, one triumph, still have a 66 cl77 honda srambler 305 restored. anyway a year ago procured a c50uzuki boulevard and strted going on hump day rides with some grey beard friends from my youth. we went on day trips to lunch many different roads and routes. they forgave my inexperience and my "kid in the candy store look on my face" i had never really done much touring so i was basically for the first time beginning to see, smell, and feel the open road in a way only a man or woman on a motorcycle can. some of the aforementioned grey beards had harleys. the sight and sound of a harley gets an old gearhead excited. my dad had a 41 harley knuckle head 74 when he was 19. he also had a model A ford roadster, he said he needed some dependable transportaion cause the roadster was usualy in the back yard needing the rods shimmed or some other repair. he worked two jobs all summer and saved fifteen bucks, that paid for the roadster. well i lost dad last summer a grand and loving gentleman from the greatest generation ww2 41 through 45. thank our dads and grandads for that or we would all be speaking german or japanese. he got a big kick out of me pulling the c50 up to the front door so he could see it from his chair. he would say that shure is a pretty motorcycle, then we would talk about his old knuckle head, red with brown leather seat. it was a beauty to behold. he's still with me down here looking down from up there getting a kick out of me riding away from my shop on my, new to me 2010 tc road king classic. so if any of you guys out there are ever at cassaday, sturgis, beaumont, road hog,bad brads, clantons or the open road and see a bunch of old grey beards trying to dismount slowly to abait the pain, it would my honor and pleasure to come over and shake your hands, have some intro s and talk about harleys, after checking out the pretty girls of course. dad and his pretty girl(mom) will ride along with us all on the old knuckle head shewing away accidents and mechanical failures. see you fellows on the road, its my honor and pleasure to be a new member. friends always, tommy
