Welcome to HD Forum. Most everyone will just be greeting you here. Questions like this need to go into their correct forum either electrical or based on the motor.
On my 86 FLTC I had to replace the stock stator which melted down because it was only 22 amps. Probably the same low amperage system on yours. I bought a 32 amp kit with stator, rotor and voltage regulator and have a lot better system for both recharging and running extras like additional lights and my JVC stereo. I don't run a power amp yet. Actually with high DB speakers I really get good volume, but then I run stock pipes.
Never really wanted concert sound or multi-speaker high volume on my Tour Glide. It just fills in nicely with the motor sound and the wind blowing by.
Good luck on your project.
