Default USB music question

How long should I see "Reading..." When I insert a USB stick with about 1300 songs?

I should have left well enough alone but I was trying to clean up the music (genres, titles, artists) so a lot of data probably changed on the stick, but it's been a good 15 minutes and it is still scrolling "Reading..." and I can only see about half of my songs/artists.

I have over 2600 songs on my USB stick. It takes only a few second to start playing.

It should not take any longer to read it on your bike than it takes to read it on your computer.
I have about 800 songs or so - so are downloaded - and that song might be a combination about an hours or so long. Even so, when I turn my bike on, it reads my USB in about 10 seconds of so. Turn the bike on, accept the boon box, and soon after, I can see my USB. My stick is 16 - what size do you have?

May want to reformat and try it again

I'll add another "ditto". 1100 songs, and it takes less than 10 seconds for "Reading..." to go away.

Mine took maybe a couple of minutes the first time I plugged it in with 1,000+ songs. It should start playing fairly quickly while it reads though. I imagine the speed of the drive itself will determine how long it will take. Sounds like something is not quite right though. Did you do something different when you loaded it this time? I would maybe try to reload it. If it's still giving you trouble, consider spending $10 on a new one. I just payed $7 for a 16gb from Best Buy

This is just a 4 GB stick. I deleted some songs and changed the genre on a bunch. It's almost like the Infotainment system is looking for stuff that is no longer there. Does it have internal memory or something?
