Default Bike Lift vs. Bike Dolly

Looking for opionions on what I should get? Is there a need for both? Can I get by with just one? I'm looking to be able to move the bike around in the winter while I'm storing and working on it in the garage. I would like to only get one if possible. I have heard that you can move your bike while it is on the lifts, but when I check online they all state not to move it and leave weight off the casters while bike is on the lift. Thanks in advance for your input!

Look at the video an J&S website. J&S not false advertising; moving bike around is as easy as the video shows.

As for a wheel chock use this.

I have had the jack for seven-years, and I just ordered the wheel chock.

I don't have the J&S jack. I have a harbor freight model and although you can move the bike around, it is not very maneuvrable because two of the casters don't rotate, and I find the bike rocks around when trying to move it. If you want easy 360 degree rotation of the bike, you really need a dolly with 4 rotating casters or wheels.

I just purchased the J&L MC460 dolly but haven't received it yet. I'm hoping it will let me easily turn my Limited 90 degrees so I can store it in the garage in front of my car.

J & S Jacks hands down! By far the BEST jack I have ever owned. I can wheel my Ultra around in the garage with one hand!

If it is for moving he bike around, use the dolly. A bike can not fall off a dolly. Moving a bike around is their purpose.

I am using the Wheeldock wheel chock on my 14 SGS and I am very happy with it. It is very well made and is so easy to get the bike in and out.

I use a Craftsman Atv/motorcycle jack. Works great, easy to move around in the garage. G
