Default What's that smell?

my bike has been sitting for 1.5-2 weeks and I started it today for a ride. It was warming up while I got ready. When I came out, it smelled like burnt rubber. While on my ride, I stopped by the dealer and they confirmed the smell but couldn't figure it out.

Any ideas?

Did you look at your exhaust to see if there was something on it.

Unless somethings on your exhaust (melting)...hard to tell. Did you winterize bike and possibly drip something over heat shields...??

I'd say it's rubber.

Just kidding. No. Really. I'm not.

Did you check the engine over good? I dropped a jawbreaker one time between the engine and transmission, rested on the case behind the rear cylinder and stunk for 3 days until I found it.

Look in the nooks and crannies with a good LED light....

Hope you find it!

Mine was doing this too when I had the stock headpipes on it. I also noticed a good amount of smoke coming from the right side while it warmed up after starting it for the first time every Saturday morning. I can only ride on average once a week due to my job so it's usually a week in between rides. I think there was something in between the pipe and heat shield. The dealer looked it over but couldn't see anything that could causing it. Only did it on first start up of the week & after idling for several minutes warming up, never did it again until the first start up either the next day or following week.

Yeah, I drive a truck Monday through Friday so I'm only home on the weekend. One day to ride & the other to take care of everything else that needs taking care of.

Did you have the clutch recall just done? Dealer must have spilled a bit of fluid on my pipes while doing the recall because I remember getting home and it stunk pretty good.
