Default Original Tires

What is the expected mileage on the original tires on a 14 limited? I have over 21,000 miles and they look like they will go safely to 25,000 miles. Curious as to how many miles others are getting.

12,000 to 14,000 is about the most I've ever gotten from a set in my Ultras.

I got 27,700 out of rear on My 2012 Limited and it was not to the tread wear indicator.Changed the front at that time because it was checkering, but still looked like it had many more miles to go.

I'm a little over 15,500 and still have plenty of tread left.

Interesting differences. My buddies and I are always comparing tire mileage.

I've been getting 19,000 - 21,500 for 10 years since going to touring bikes. One guy's lucky if he gets 12,000, on his Road King. Another rider has to get new by 10,000 on his 06 Street Glide.
One fellow stated he goes 24,000 before he even thinks about new tires.
We're all old farts so it's not like we're burning rubber or riding on the hairy edge.

I'm curious what the new Dunlop 407's will be.

16,000 on mine when I put it up last month for winter and tires look like another 10,000. That's how my 010 and 013 were also usually good for 23,000 to 27,000.

Changed mine to Michelin Commander 2's @ 16,000 because the rear was chopped badly. Bike was humming and singing a tune something awful while leaned over. Front and rear were the same at 4/32" tread remaining. Have about 5k so far on the new shoes and tread still looks new.

Side note: much improved feel while riding (read: plusher on the highways, no tendency to wiggle/wobble on grated roads or metal grating draw bridges, excellent turning feel with very neutral effort in holding one's line) Wet traction feels better as well. The rear skips and slides on downshift less than with the stockers.

Weight, one up, two up, tire inflation, and the condition of the roads would probably all be factors.

Don't want to hijack your tire mileage thread, but for you high mileage tire guys -- what psi are you running front and back? Big difference between 12,000 and 25,000 miles, has to be some explanation.....
