Yaffe's and Heated Grips
One thing I had been wishing for on my '14 UL was to get mini apes installed. Loved the 10" apes on the Heritage and decided to put Yaffe monkeybars on the UL. As anyone who has done the job knows, it was trying to say the least. Got it done last nite and everything operational except heated grips. Connections are good, fuse appears ok. Called dealer and was told they almost always lose heated grips when they do the job. After market bars are thicker and when you slide the grip back on it breaks the elements running along the inside as you push it on the bar. He sed they will file down the left side of new bars to avoid this but don't do many bikes with heated grips for this reason. I did alot of forum reading and YouTube watching before doing the job and never ran across this info. My question is was this just dealer-speak or has anyone else encountered this? Bummer losing the heat, but between the two I'd rather have the taller bars. Love them already.

I had a set of 10" Klockwerks mini apes installed and a set of heated grips @ the same time on my 15RGS. The Service Manager told me that typically they weren't able to install the grips with aftermarket bars but they worked with the Klockwerks. Not sure why or how but I was happy they made it work!!!

Yaffe's and heated grips here, they work fine and no modification needed to the bars. You do have to be careful not to pinch the heater wires between the grip and the end of the bar when installing the heated grips, it's best to keep tension on the wires gently pulling them through the bars while sliding the grips on.
