Default Project Rushmore, the good, the bad, the ugly ?

So if everything checks out I'll probably end up with a 2015 Touring something within the next couple weeks. I want the Ultra Low but will wait to demo one.

For those that have 2014's/2015's what can I expect ?

Coming off an 08 SG Anniversary, lowered in the front, 940's in the rear and stage one.

I have nothing but good to report about my '14 SGS. I've owned an '09 and '12 SG and IMHO, HD took care of all of my gripes about the previous SG with Rushmore. I'm able to ride with the stock shield at 70 mph without major buffeting like on my previous SGs. The stock radio is loud enough to be heard at highway speeds unlike my previous SGs. The storage compartment in the fairing eliminates the need to bags on the fairing to keep an ipod. Functionally, it allows me to ride my SG and keep with the SG styling that I simply couldn't do with the previous generation. Overall I'm very happy.

As mentioned a whole different animal, you will love it. If I can ad one thing to your decision of the "Low". Its a 900.00 increase to lower but you are loosing a few things vs purchasing a standard and doing the lowering yourself or the dealer even for just a bit more. you will notice that the hand grips are smaller diameter and they are not heated, cant recall a few others at this time but ask your salesman to point out the differences.. just a heads up!

You can lower 3/4 inch with a Road King seat and You can still get a jack under. You won't scrape foot boards as bad and exhaust.I lowered My 08,never again!!

Cheaper to buy it that way.

The rear premium shocks are $500, and the front kit is $200, plus labor.

And with the low you get the slim primary... I'm anxious for my wife to try one...

On the Low...

Passenger footpegs are relocated. Primary cover is narrower. Handlebars are different. Grips are smaller (not significant for me) not heated (and that is not a big deal for me either). Reduced reach seat is standard and the suspension is lowered. Oh, and the windshield is shorter so I can see over it, LOL.

I sat on one and am just blown away at how well it fits me. I 60 years old, 5' 5" with a 29 inch inseam on my best day.

I installed the 940's on my SG myself but had an independent install Progessive drop in springs, labor for that was $300 'cause the inner fairing had to come off. So I don't know if you could lower a Standard, $900 parts and labor but I'll check. You'd have the added cost of the seat and the handlebars probably would not be a big issue. But you wouldn't get the narrower primary cover. So for a $1150 difference you really have to be sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Ultra Standard is $23,249 and the low is $24,399. For some reason it shows the security option standard on the Low and $395 on the Standard.

At 60 I'm guessing the Infortainment learning curve will cause my greatest consternation. I'm still trying to figure out my flip phone.

Different strokes, I lowered my 08 SG and it's the best thing I ever did.

Our riding styles are different. We go two up on a lowered SG, I pull a trailer and neither of us are a "small package" (other than altitude).

I have never scraped boards or exhaust on my SG.

I have a J&S jack and all I do is pull the bike towards verticle and the jack slides right under. If there were a problem with the Low I'd park the rear tire on a 1X6.

I'm interested in what people think of the Rushmore upgrades.
