Default Removed drain plug and just a trickle of oil came out.

Hello everyone.

like the title says i removed the cap on my oil tank then removed the oil drain plug on the bottom of the engine and maybe 1/4 of a quart came out. I then jacked up the rear of the bike to see if i get could some of the oil from the oil tank to drain out but it didnt happen. I must be doin something wrong, this is the first time i have changed the oil on my harley so any tips would be appreciated.

this is on a 2005 softail deuce.

Thanks in advance

Mike

Wrong plug. The oil drain plug is on the frame under the oil tank. You might want to invest in a service manual. Checkout this post and scroll down a few posts. Someone has posted links with pics for a proper oil change.
