BDL Belt Drive Starter Problems
If you have a belt drive and ever run into the problem where your Jack Shaft is not engaging the Clutch Start Gear and spins behind it. Don't tear your scooter apart to get at the starter. That's more than likely not your problem. I learned the hard way... check out the picture of my night train and you'll see that in order to get at the starter the following had to be removed... pipes, oil lines, oil tank, rear splash guard, the ignition module and the center support that comes down from the back bone of the frame. Some items listed wit just to accommodate the removal of the oil tank, but none the less were removed. Then... installed after discovering that there was nothing wrong with the starter. After doing a bit of homework (should have done first) I installed this in about 10 minutes. Problem solved!
