I took the entire starter apart and rechecked everything check ball is in and little needle bearings are in also... Removed clutch and comp and cranked bike starter motor spins freely... What does the se comp do thats different than stock comp? Any more suggestions before i buy a 300 compensator?

I. Don't know how it makes a difference...I think it's a little delay between the motor and the the starter engaging the SE comp is more tight therefore less delay....I am not even sure if this makes sense but that is how I understood it when the mechanic explained it to me,,,, the most important thing is, after a high torque starter,a new regular stock compensator, a new added grounding stap a manual compression release, the SE comp fixed my grinding issue.

My 09 FXDF was doing the same thing last year as did my 07 FLHT back in 07. Did you inspect the clutch basket? Anyway, they had to replace the clutch basket on the 07 as well as the tensioner. The FXDF was going to need a tensioner as well as a compensator upgrade, but when I noticed a lot of metal in the trans fluid I just decided to dump the bike. I have seen many problems associated with compensators and tensioners on these bikes. I have my own opinion on what is causing these problems.
