Default Clutch not engaging

My buddy has an '07 Road King. All of a sudden his clutch doesn't seem to be engaging. (I think that is the right term. Basically it won't disengage the drivetrain so you can't stop the bike easily).

He has checked the cable tension and the cable itself and nothing seems wrong with it.

What are the next steps to troubleshoot the problem?

With the outer primary cover off, pull theclutch lever and see if the pressure plate on the clutch moves outward.

He is coming over Saturday morning to work on it. Any chance of getting a next step of it does or doesn't work so we know what to do after we check that?

If the pressure plate does not move or it doesn't move enough( you want at least .080 of travel) then it could be a couple things. Watch the cable when you pull the lever, it should be smooth with little to no movement. If it dances around then it could be time for a new cable. If the cable is fine I would pull the side cover(the clutch actuator cover on the right side) and inspect the ball and ramp assembly, this consists of 2 ramps and three ***** each ball has a pocket that it sits in. Make sure each ball is in each pocket, to ensure that they stay that way upon reassembly use some bearing grease in the pockets. Also tip the bike to the right and the clutch push rod should slide out. Take the push rod and roll it on a piece of glass or another flat surface and make sure it's not bent. If none of this helps and you still can't figure it out go to either the Posers coffee house section or the TOAK and look for KRwould and ask him nicely to give me a call and I'll check back here to see what you are running into.

Oh yeah, if KRwould tells you no then you'll have to wait till Monday.
