Default Primary Drain Leak

I have an 04 Lowrider that I bought used. It leaks oil out of the primary drain. A few weeks ago I changed all 3 oils and at that time replaced the primary drain plug. Last night I looked under my bike and I have a drop the size of a quarter. I torked the plug down to what my manual speced. Any idea's anyone?

Thanks.

Wrap the plug with a few turns on teflon tape and re-install it.

Are you sure it's the plug that's leaking? Run your fingers behind the inner primary up as high as you can reach and see if they come out oily. If they do, the leak is not the drain plug. That may just be the lowest point where the oil runs to before dripping to the garage floor. (I have the same exact issue with an 03 FXD and an 04 Ultra. Oil looks like it's coming from primary drain plug, but that really is not the source of the leak!

Did you do anything to fix this on yours?

On the DYNA, I assumed it was the inner primary leaking and thought it would be fixed when I installed a chrome inner primary. Elwrongo! didn't fix it. didn't get worse either, but now I think the issue is really a tranny leak, not primary. I think the seal in the tranny is bad and it is really tranny fluid that is dripping off the primary drain plug. I suspect the same issue with the Ultra. Since the leaks aren't too bad and neither the Primary nor the trans are ever low on fluid, I am not going to worry about it for now. Too many other issues in my life. Going thru a divorce that is really ugly and I need to install a chrome engine kit on my girlfriends sportster in the next couple weeks.

I looked under the bike with a mirror last night... no noticible oil, but I also had wiped the drain plug and area around clean the other day. I'll have to check after next time I ride... which could be some time from now with snow on the ground this morning.

Thanks everyone.
