Right Side Jockey Shift

Right Side Jockey Shift
I have a 1961 Iron Head and I want to set up a Jockey Shift. Any advice would be great. I would like to know how much weight or abuse the shift shaft can take. Or if I should set up a linkage system to avoid any weight on that shaft. If anyone has done this on a right side shift iron head and could send some pictures of what or how you did it I would be very thankful..

Jo,
You may want to try contacting Jordan Hamilton, a master fabricator at

His personal bike (which he built, and I have seen in person) is a rigid vintage Ironhead Sporty that features a beautiful right side jockey/hand clutch set up he crafted. His bike also has a custom left foot throttle that looks like something off a street rod. If you pull up his Facebook page you'll see two bikes in his profile photo; the bike I'm referring to is the one under the yellow "We're Open" banner on the left.
Best of luck!
