2003 fxdwg bdl comp,hayden m6 adj. when it is cold I have a chain slap if my idle goes over 1000 rpm I have almost 5/8 at the adj. with the shims they give you that is as close as I can get to 5/8 without going over I had the primary outer cover off checked everthing again any ideas Thanks also started with really thin shim 5000 miles checked had 9/16 took out small shim and replaced with one of the thicker shims1/8th

I recently had a similar sound coming from the front of the primary, of course my '08 has the auto chain tensioner, long and short it turned out to be the compensator sprocket was sliding too easily. unless yours is slapping like slap slapslapslapslap like that you have a totally different problem than i had. Mine would slap if I gave it a quick twist at idle, and was giving me starting issues. When the compression was building the comp sprocket would kick out and throw the starter timing out and then i would get a huge compression burp out the air cleaner and no start.
