1988 FXSTC tranny fitment to newer bike help?

Default 1988 FXSTC tranny fitment to newer bike help?

Hey Guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows what years my 88 5 speed tranny will fit, will it fit up to 99 arte they the same? or were there alot of changes made?

The tapered mainshaft transmission was last used for the `89 models, `90 and later use a tapered mainshaft/clutch assembly.

The `88 has the old starter configuration, so the hole in the case for the starter mount is a different size, although this could be modified in order to use the modern starter setup.

The `88 transmission assembly would not be a sought after item for a later model bike.
