Default Initial Setting of Harley Auto Chain Tensioner

I have the Harley auto primary chain tensioner, and instructions which came with it are unclean as to how to set it initially. Is it better to have the 'frame' low with the shoe well above the frame (wedge far to the left), or is it better to have the frame high with the shoe close to the frame (wedge to the right)? Thanks.
