I will be riding south down the Oregon coast in a couple of weeks then over to Vegas, any suggestions on the best ride over would be appreciated. I have a week.

BC, it is still pretty cold and wet in Oregon now, but...

The highway 42 from Coos Bay over to Roseburg is a nice ride and is a picturesque river valley. It pops out over on I-5.

I've heard you can pick your way on back roads over from Gold Beach through Cave Junction over to I-5, but it's probably pretty rough up there right now.

I heard that Cave Junction has the highest number of bigfoot sightings in the state! Good luck.

Great time of year to do the PCH Oregon to CA. And Death Valley.

Day 1. Astoria to Crescent City, CA

Day 2. Crescent City to Bodega Bay. Redwood Natl. Park.

Day 3. Bodega Bay to Monterey taking Golden Gate Bridge down Hwy 1 Pacifica & Santa Cruz. Stop at Moss Landing Phil’ Fish Restaurant.
Monterey has much to see. Hotels near downtown Abrego Ave. Ride into Pacific Grove Lighthouse Ave and Oceanview Blvd. Fishermans Wharf. Aquarium. Cannery Row.

Day 4. Monterey Big Sur to Hwy 1 to Ventura. Side trips Hearst Castle San Simeon, Pismo Beach, Solvang, Santa Barbara to Ventura.

Day 5. Ventura to Death Valley Stovepipe Wells. via Santa Clarita, Palmdale, Panamint Springs.

Day 6. Death Valley to Vegas.

I did the coast from Santa Barbara last summer. Any way you choose will be fun. I did Hwy 1 up to the Bay Area awesome riding around Monterey. Great views along the way. You will notice the speed limits in OR people follow 55 seemed slow. CA the speed limits are just suggestions 65 means 70 to 75 minimum and you will get passed. Splitting lanes is legal in CA if you have never done it, it exhilarating the first couple times.
Let me know if you decide to make it this far south.

I like 71on72's routing, particularly through Death Valley. If you do the northern part of what 71on72 suggests a bit faster, you'll have more time to explore the Mohave and perhaps Joshua Tree National Park.
