Default Lake George/ Adirondack trip

I'm planning on taking a trip in June to lake George/ Adirondacks from the Boston area and just looking at which routes to take and where to stay for the night or two. So any info would be appreciated thank you

What route are you planning to get there? If time is not an issue I would come up to NH and hook up to US Route 4 and take 4 west through NH and then through VT. From Rte 4 you can cross over to NY going through Whitehall and over to Lake George. I don't know how far you plan on riding up in NY, but all around Tupper Lake is gorgeous riding.

I was planning on taking rte 2 in Mass but it I'm also looking for other suggestions. That Rte 4 looks good but it might take a bit more time, just looking to get at my destination at a reasonable time and then do all the nice ride up there I guess.

If you don't want to go that far north into NH, you might think about heading Northwest out of Fitchburg (towards Rindge and into Keene NH) and picking up Rte 9 - that's a nice ride across southern VT from Brattleboro to Bennington. Then maybe 22 North once you get into NY? I've never been on that road though...

I'm not much of a fan of Route 2 in MA, but I've only really been on it east of Gardner.

Good luck, have a safe trip!

We go to Lake George every year for Americade and then do a couple of weekend trips up there a year. If your leaving from the Boston area to get there i would take 93 to 89 and that will lead you into Rt4 which is a very scenic route to get to lake George. While you are there, there are many many routes to ride around. You can make a day out of Rt9N just head north. It is beautiful. Rt 8 through Lake Pleasant, 28 & 30 through indian lake, Rt 3 through saranac lake , it really is all good out there and how far you would like to go in a day.
Places to stay?. If you want something less expensive there is a nice red roof in , no breakfast but very clean and reasonable. If you want more upscale then the comfort suites. You have breakfast its very clean and customer service is great.

However you get to Rte 9...if you have the time...Rte 9 to Rte 100 to Rte 4.

I would definitely encourage heading back via Mt. Grelyock and picking up Rte 2 from there....Rte 2 west of I 91 is beautiful, so is Greylock itself.

Agree, Lake George has some great riding, but their event Americade is lame, compared to others. It is a glorified cruise night!
