Default Keeping spots on with high beam - quick, cheap and easy

Bought that wire connector inbetween thing that keeps your spotlight on when you hit your high beam for $20.
Then after finding the connector it goes between I could see I was going to have a real hard time getting my fingers in there and seperating it without the risk of messing up something or breaking the brittle tabs on my 2008 Electra Glide.
So I found this information - all the credit goes to Ron Webster.
I was replacing my panel switches anyway as my speaker one was damaged so did it on a table - but you could easily do it on the bike like he did. I had to watch it multiple times as he does it fast and you only see the wire he's taping into for a split second.
It's the orange one with red stripe on the AUX switch (the lower wire).
Cutting the yellow and putting it into there.
And, no, you don't have to have the aux switch always on.
I sealed the cut yellow with a piece of shrink wrap.
Works great, cost about a dollar.
Thank you Ron Webster.
Highly recommend.

Yes many states have regulations about not having your spots on when you hit your high beams.
I ride with my spots on and low beam all the time - if there's a regulation against that I don't care give me a ticket at least people can see me..
And the last couple miles to work is a dark road, no one coming the other way and when I used to hit my brights the spots would turn off and it was actually dimmer than the low beams with the spots on.

Yeah, I don't understand the reasoning behind turning off the passing lights when on high beam. I'm pretty sure it's not a requirement here in Canada. I did it the cheaper way but had I known there was a $20 plug in adapter just would probably have done that.

Unfortunately this mod can't be done on the M8 bikes. It requires a reprogram by your friendly HD dealer.

Along with the reprogram, is there any wiring that needs to be done? For instance, an additional harness as described by the OP?

No, reprogram only. Taking my bike in next week to get it done. Dealer quote was $50 to do it.

Ask about “discounting” that price. It is literally a 5 minute operation with the diag-tool.

I ended up putting that in between wire harness on anyway.
It gives you a little more room when you take that lower panel off to move it aside when you change your fork oil.
But the high beam and spots was working before I installed that with just the clipped yellow wire teed into that orange wire with the red stripe.
I know this isn't new information it's just new to me.
By the time I discover something it's usually 10 or 20 years old - I just discovered slow close toilet seats and holding and swiping the space bar on a phone.

Yeah, I know. Believe it or not ,out of the 2 dealers in my area this one was the cheapest. The other stealership wanted $ 85 to do it .

My dealer did it for free. I asked about it when UI bought the bike and they agreed to just do it. Definitely worth it.

Absolutely. You just spent big money there, they should do it for free.
