Default Is 9 days enough time to do Sturgis from Ga?

Trying to plan to go to Sturgis for the first time in 2016. I can only take 9 days off work from Saturday - following Sunday. Is this doable? I figure on 3 days riding out and 3 days back, 3 days there. Any advise is appreciated. I live in Northeast ga. Google says 1835 miles one way.

When I do directions in Google Maps from Gainsville, GA to Sturgis, SD it draws a route that is 1576 miles. That's easily doable in 3 days each way. You might consider 2 long days to get there. It won't be too bad since you will be so excited. That would give you 4 days at the rally.

I think I could get my fill of the Rally in 3 days but I don't know about you. Three days in a row is a lot of partying.

Absolutely.

9 days is enough to get very far from home and back again on a motorcycle.

Sturgis can easily be taken in with a 2-3 night stay.

All the best,

Shane

I looked at the mileage wrong. You are correct robertwy.

I would probably get cheap hotels on the way out and back and tent camp while there.

Sturgis itself can be enjoyed in 2-3 days, though the riding in the surrounding area takes a few more days if you really want to enjoy it rather than just cross it off your list of places you've ridden. I guess some of it depends on how early you can get up and how late you can stay up...while still being safe for yourself and anyone around you.

My buddies came from Jax, FL via N.C. They arrived on a Tuesday morning and left Friday afternoon. granted they trailered their bikes but they had a blast for the 3 days they were there.

Looks like the mileage is 1,550 miles.

Only you can determine if you are comfortable with getting there and back.
If you are used to covering interstate miles you are looking at a pretty easy 2 day trip. (775 miles a day). Considering fuel stops you are looking at a 12 hour day. One night with 8 hours sleep in a motel room.

For 3 days, it is 516 miles per day and staying after it with just fuel stops, you are looking at 8 hour days.

Either way, the ride there and back will give you more memories than Sturgis itself.

About the same distance from South MS. We ride out in three and ride home in two.

Like he said. You can cover some miles on the big road in a day
