Looking for Good 2 Night 3 Day Trip Leaving From Northern NJ
Upgraded last year from a Sporty 1200 Custom to a 2015 FLHR. Average about 3,000 miles a year. Ready to take a solo 2 night 3 day trip. Live in northern NJ. Thinking PA or NY state. Or south into DE, MD or VA. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Nice upgrade and definitely good for larger ride expansion. How about the Catskills up to Route 30 and into the Adirondacks. Maybe stay a bit outside or around Lake George with all kinds of good country routes and loops (take a look at the roads around Lake Sacandaga, excellent ride around the lake and many others up that way) Maybe 28 in the Catskills to 30 N (to haul some butt) then explore. Really depends on how big you want to go per day, type of riding etc. Time of year and weekend versus weekdays are a big deal as well. Love the Adirondacks, but you could theoretically just stay on Rt 30 all day for day one and stay up in Lake Placid/Saranac then wind back down etc etc. Let us know a bit more about your timeframe and time availability (hotel or camping, passenger or not, typical stops...) Congrats on the new bike!!!

Yup, PA & Central Upstate NY. Google these things:
Taughannock Falls, Taughannock State Park, Watkins Glen, Finger Lakes wineries, Letchworth State Park in NY
In PA, PA Grand Canyon, Kinzua Bridge State Park, Kinzua Dam, Benezette PA, Hyner View.
I've made suggestions to other HD members about PA rides, so I can give you more details if you wanna do PA & Upstate NY. I live here, and never get tired of riding here. You can fill up 2 or 3 days easily, and enjoy some great riding & sights each day.

Take rt 81 (in Pennsy) south to Roanoke, VA. Spend then night. Next morning go west, crossing 81 and find 42. follow this all the way back to Harrisonburg. Depending on your desires you can then grab 81 again and head back to Pennsy. or follow 11 north until you feel like shooting back to 81 to make time.
Check out the routes on Mapquest as the numbers change back and forth in the mountains but the ride will be excellent.
