Default Need help with day ride in NC please.

Ok, we are taking a trip to the east. We will be staying in Cherokee for like 3 days. One day we are there, we will be taking Moonshiner 28 south. Will probably hit the HD in Anderson, SC. then heading back to Cherokee.

Looking at a route back, it looks like a good route would be taking Hwy. 178 north to Rosman, NC. From there is where I would like some help.

Option 1: take 215 north to Waynesville
Option 2: go east and take 276 north to Waynseville
Option 3: go west and take 281 through Tuckasegee to 74

Which of these would make for the best ride? I'm leaning towards Option 2.

If there is anything in this area that I don't need to miss, please feel free to mention it.

Thanks for any and all comments.

Definitely make a run to Maggie Valley and visit the Wheels Through Time Museum. My money would
be on 276 but both appear to follow water thru the mountains.

At the rest stops, make sure you use the correct bathrooms.

178 to Rosman is good choice. Great ride from Pickens,SC all the way to Rosman. From Rosman take 215 this is a fantastic ride! Pavement is only year or two old and plenty of twists and light traffic (don't miss the chance to ride this road). At the top of the mountain 215 goes under the BRP you can take it to Maggie Valley or Cherokee. If you want to get to Waynesville stay on 215 until you get to 276 then follow 276 into Waynesville.

Second "Wheels Through Time". Also don't miss the photo op at the falls on the Moonshiner. You can ride your bike right under the fall on a paved pullout. I personally like the Moonshiner better than the Dragon.

Option two will take you through Brevard, nice little town, try Jamie's on Main Street or Brevard brewery across the street. Where 276 breaks left from 64 your entering Pisgah National Forest, 2 miles from my house, The Hub just opened, big bicycle country, 6 or so beers on tap, food trucks, picnic tables, up 276 a little is Looking Glass Falls, up to the BRP you can go a few miles on parkway north to the Pisgah Inn, great food and views. Back on 276 nice ride to Waynesville, try Bojum brewery on main st. Alternate to 178 to Rosman is to take Hwy 11 east and hit 276 there and stop at Ceasers Head park, great views of where you just came from, and take 276 down into Brevard. Have fun.

One of the most relaxing and scenic rides is little river gorge road. It is heavily traveled in the fall, but it is one of those roads you just cant get enough of. It runs beside a river almost the entire length with plenty of pull offs
I highly recommend Ironhorse MC lodge, stayed there 3 times last year. Dont wait till last minute to reserve, they stay booked. You will meet people from all over the world there.
If you come thru Nashville, I may ride with now that you got me thinking about it again!

Check out Bryson City. There is a nice steam locomotive train ride through the mountains.

This will help you. It's well worth the price. It shows all the great rides/routes in the area with suggestions on what to see. Different routes are "color coded" along with estimated time to complete.

Cherokee is a great "hub" for riding in the area but don't forget that it's DRY although it's a short ride to Bryson and the IGA.
