Default NE and Eastern Iowa riding....

I am planning a quick 2 day jaunt from Minneapolis down to this part of the state with the lady friend. I've ridden down here plenty at my own leisure, but I want to make sure I fit in good riding in a short time frame whereas I usually can take my time and find the roads/areas I'd like to hit.

We both like the riding aspect and it's a quick trip, so looking more for fun roads, longer jaunts that are pretty, curvy, and a bit off the main highway. I know how to following the river, so I can handle that Thanks guys.

If you are going to be around Dubuque, take the time to jump to the IL side for a bit. Take Blackjack Road from Galena to Hanover. Also stop at both Poopy's and Ironhorse in Savanna.

You can also take 151 down to Anamosa for a big motorcycle museum and JP Cycle.

When you say "follow the river" are you meaning the Loess Hills Byway?

If not, this is a great little drive.

That's the opposite end of the state from where he said he's going?

Watch out for june bugs... They are the size of a football, as hard as a golf ball and will knock you out.
I took one right between the eyes just above my glasses in Iowa 10 years ago.

The Loess Hills are great here on the west side. I get to ride them all the time.

Howdy all......never got on the trip over memorial. Now heading down that way (Quad Cites area, NE IOWA, ETC) from Minneapolis over the 4th. Any suggestions? Roads, etc. Things to do for us mostly involve scenic, twisty roads with nice views. Not so interested in stopping/touristy stuff.

And yes, I've done the Loess Hills severeal times and I love them!
