Default Anybody know of a good/cheap hotel near Mt. Rushmore?

Heading through the Black Hills at the end of August (NOT during Sturgis) on our way to the 110th celebration. Does anybody know of or have experience with a cool little hotel near Mt. Rushmore? We want to spend a day seeing the area and don't want to spend a lot for a hotel. Google doesn't give out any hints as to whether a place blows or not. Thanks!

Agree with Chief Motel in Custer. Stayed there a couple of years ago and was very satisfied. Close to all the great rides, staff was great. Manager was very helpful with pointing out things to see in the area. Also, walk down to the "Purple Pie Place" down the street for some Bumbleberry Pie...you won't be disappointed!!!

Lot of hotel/motels in Keystone, just a couple miles from Mount Rushmore, google them and call for prices/availability. I stayed there when I went two years ago, reasonable and close!

Hill City is a great location as well as Keystone. I have stayed at the Super8 there. Much nicer than the average Super8.

Mt. Rushmore KOA. I believe they have the Cabins. When we stayed there they had a free shuttle to Rushmore and Crazy Horse. That was in 2004 though so they might be charging now. The place was clean and the staff was top notch.
