Default cam seal

1977 FLH 74" 1200
all original less than 23k miles

So I got all the issues worked out. Bike running great. On my way to pick up a sexy lady to go for a ride.
pop is the sound I hear. Cam seal gone, it was all I could do to get it home. Smoking from oil on the pipes, barely any oil left in the oil bag when I got there. Oil all over whole bike. Ungh.
is this an easy fix? Remember that I am a carpenter not a mechanic.

Not plumbed properly...double check all oil lines.

Blew the seal from overfill or over pressure.

Hmm... I know it's not overfilled, oil lines were installed by a reputable shop last year. Well it needs repaired. Do I need to remove all the pushrods, tappets to replace this seal?

If it was me..I would just poke one in there...if it blows again...something is causing over pressure.

I ask again can I just pull the cone off and replace the seal or do I need to remove all the push rods and tappets, possibly more?

I don't pull the cone nor anything besides the ignition...after the ignition is out, you should be able to seat a New seal. Mark your ignition for the timing, so you can simply stick the ignition back in where it was and go.
