Carburetor fxr to fuel injection
Ok guys. I'm doing a fxr project. I have a 89 fxr. I'm taking out my evo engine an putting in a 2012 103 twin cam that came off a bagger. I wanting to go fuel injected. And I'm wanting to know exactly what I need. all I have is the motor an trans an that's it. Help will be appreciated. An not trying to be a jerk but I don't want to hear about how carburetor is so much better an blah blah blah. Just want to stick to the subject. Thanks.

If you are using factory fuel injection, I'd try really hard to get the rest of the 2012 bike for parts - you'll need the wiring harness, ECM, O2 sensors, and probably a bunch of other stuff. You didn't say you had the FI throttle body, which obviously is a big part of it. The ECM also controls spark, so that has to be considered. Finally, the 2012 is ride by wire so you'll need the twist grip sensor and wiring.
Maybe there's an aftermarket setup?

Hello and welcome.
Unless you are getting everything else from the 2012 103 twin cam motor then the cost can become prohibitive fast.
Basically pick-up the parts manual for part numbers for the 2012 bagger.
Then pick-up a service manual for year and model.
Then document all parts mentioned in the service manual under fuel injection.
That is why many builders use a carb. blah blah blah
