Default CV on a Shovel!

I spent the better part of Sat. installing a used CV carb on my 79 FLH. After making some brackets and changing a cable and a few adjustments. She purrs like a kitten and roars like lion. I couldn't be happier at how well it runs. It's like I got a brand new bike for $300 Carb plus parts.

What else has been done to your engine? You know, cam, pistons, headwork...
What jetting did you use? I may do this some day so I just want an idea of what jetting to start with.
Glad it turned out well.

It's all stock, except for the open exhaust. It is a 80c.i. motor, I had a local carb guy set it up for me. I believe it is just a stock carb set up. I installed a stock style filter as well. Made my own brackets and used the Drag Specialties adaptor. I wish I had done this years ago, after rescuing this Shovel from a barn.

I did the same thing with my 72, I picked up a near new CV for $35.00. Ran great.

Good to hear when a plan comes together and works out.

Nice work been wondering about this as I have a new 42mm edelbrock on the shelf I was going to put on but, I think it would be better to swap out my cv off the nighttrain

i have an edelbrock on my 76 shovel and am not sure if i should be looking for something diff. It seems to run fine but it seems to drip gas out while i ride it. Would i notice much different if i went to a super E. It also has a hypercharger on it.

I put a CV from a Sportster on my shovel about 5 years ago and it works really well, much better than the old Keihin carb!
