Default Mystery Hose on Street Bob

im going over my bike, checking for loose bolts and such for the upcoming summer season, and I noticed a small rubber hose at the front end of the tank. It goes down the front and bends 90 degrees underneath the tank. Doesn't attach to anything. I can't find this thing in the manual, but am I right in thinking it's just for venting the tank? I can see the crossover hose under the tank, but I don't see anything this guy should connect to.

Does it hook up to a valve of some sort or just a hose? Is it on the left side front? Does the bike ever leak gas?

No leaks = continuous venting system (especially if hooked up to a valve which it should be)

Leaks = crossover line for tank sides (doubtful since you aren't mentioning leaks)

Yeah no leaks. I can see the crossover connecting one side to the other underneath. This one is on the left side (when seated), and goes down the front and tucks underneath the tank. I don't see anything for it to connect to under there.

If its the hose at the left hand side of the tank it has to be the vent hose.

On my FXD '03 it runs from the top of the tank along the neck of the frame under the tank and ends at the rear bottom side of the gear box.

It's a vent tube for the gas tank. The end of it should be just behind the tranny before the swing arm.

There should be a hose going from the top of the tank to the line pictured. At least there is on mine.

Good point.

Here's an image of the upper part:

Looks the same, but I'm not seeing a valve under the tank.

Did you buy your ride used? Someone may have removed the vapor valve. I always remove the vapor valve, along with the added plumbing and vent directly to atmosphere; uh oh, I'd better start watching for the EPA black helicopters
